As an entering student, how do I apply for an academic scholarship at Syracuse University?

Syracuse University offer Founders’, Chancellor and Dean’s merit scholarships to entering freshmen based on the student's admission application. These scholarships may be used to pay up to $12,000 of tuition costs. Syracuse University offers merit scholarships up to $6,000 for transfer students.
I received an academic scholarship this year. Will this scholarship be renewed?
To continue to receive an academic scholarship you must maintain a minimum
cumulative grade point average (GPA), enroll as a full-time undergraduate, and
complete at least 12 credits a semester. Students have three semesters to meet the
grade point average requirement, and transfer students have three semesters. If your
GPA falls below the minimum requirement, University-funded Scholarships will not be
renewed for the following academic year.

Students who receive a University-funded scholarship beginning with the fall 2007
semester, must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75.
Students who received University-funded scholarships prior to the fall 2007 semester,
must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
If I do well academically, will my Dean's Scholarship be increased to a Chancellor's Scholarship?
No. These academic scholarships are awarded your entering year and the value remains
the same in subsequent years.
Does Syracuse University offer any other scholarships?
A number of competitive scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen such as
the Citizen Education Conference Scholarship, VPA Art Portfolio, and VPA Special
Music Scholarship. Eligibility for these scholarships is determined at the time of
admission and there are no separate applications required.
Transfer students may be eligible for the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. Inquiries
regarding this scholarship are directed to the Office of Scholarship Programs.
Each year, 35 Remembrance Scholarships are awarded to full-time undergraduate
students entering their final year at Syracuse. Applications for this scholarship are
available in November. The deadline is usually in January.
Does Syracuse University provide applications for scholarships from sources other than the University?
The Office of Scholarship Programs receives a number of applications from
various sources and students are notified of these through our home page, listserv and
bulletin board. We encourage students to research scholarship opportunities on
their own through the use of the Internet, publications available in our office and local
resources in their community. To view a listing of scholarships currently available,
visit our external scholarship bulletin board.
I received a scholarship from my high school for my freshman year. Will my financial aid be adjusted?
Generally external scholarships, those scholarships received from sources other than
Syracuse University, will be used to meet the student's remaining need. If a student
does not have remaining need, it may be necessary to adjust the self-help (i.e. student
loans and Federal Work-Study) portion of the financial aid award. It is best to contact
your Financial Aid Counselor or the Office of of Scholarship Programs with specific
questions.
When is the best time to start looking for scholarships?
The sooner the better. Searching for scholarships does take time so it's a good idea
to start early and search often. Eligibility requirements vary as do the deadline dates
so don't limit yourself or be discouraged if the results are not exactly as you expect
right away.
What about the scholarship search services that I keep reading about? They make it sound so easy and often guarantee finding scholarships that I would qualify for.
Beware of any scholarship search service that guarantees results, especially for a fee.
Use caution with unsolicited offers of assistance and read all the fine print carefully.
