Syracuse University awards academic scholarships to eligible students
based on the student's admission application. Selection is
done by the Admissions Committee and eligibility is based upon a
student's academic credentials, performance on standardized tests,
class rank, portfolio or audition results (if relevant), community
and extracurricular involvement, and overall citizenship and character.
Syracuse University offer Founders’, Chancellor and Dean’s
merit scholarships to entering freshmen. These scholarships may
be used to pay up to $12,000 of tuition costs. Syracuse University
offers merit scholarships up to $6,000 for transfer students.

the fall 2007 semester, must maintain a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 2.75. Students who received University-funded scholarships
prior to the fall 2007 semester, must maintain a minimum cumulative
grade point average of 2.5. In addition, all students must complete
at least 12 credits per semester to continue to be eligible to receive

below the required GPA, a University-funded scholarship will not
be renewed.

awards not to exceed the amount of tuition for each year. Students
who receive tuition funding through other programs such as (athletic
scholarships, dependent tuition, tuition exchange, etc.) are recognized
as Founders’, Chancellor’s, and Dean’s Scholars
and are not eligible to receive the monetary value of the scholarship.
Academic scholarships are awarded regardless of financial need.
To be considered for an academic scholarship or to have it renewed,
students do not have to file a Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) or any other application.
