ACADEMIC COMPETITIVENESS GRANT (ACG) INFORMATION

The U.S. Department of Education has created a new federal grant program, called the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG). Up to $750 will be awarded to eligible first year students and up to $1,300 to eligible second year students. By filing the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), you are automatically considered for federal ACG eligibility. The following requirements, set forth by the Department of Education, must be met to qualify for the grant:


  • must be a U.S. citizen
  • must be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
  • must be enrolled full time in a two or four year degree program
  • must be in their first or second year of their degree program
  • first year students must have completed high school on or after January 1, 2006
  • second year students must have completed high school on or after January 1, 2005 and have at least a 3.0 GPA from their first year.
  • all students must have completed a rigorous high school program of study
