AND MATHMATICS ACCESS TO RETAIN TALENT GRANT (SMART) INFORMATION |

The
U.S. Department of Education has created a new federal grant program,
called the Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant
(SMART). Up to $4,000 will be awarded to eligible juniors and seniors.
By filing the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), you are
automatically considered for federal SMART eligibility. The following
requirements, set forth by the Department of Education, must be
met to qualify for the grant:

- must be
a U.S. citizen
- must be
eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
- must be
enrolled full time
- pursue a
degree in mathematics, science (including physical, life, and
computer), technology, engineering, or a critical foreign language
- have a cumulative
GPA of 3.0 or better
