Hendricks Chapel is able to assist students experiencing financial hardship. Mini-grants are available to meet a wide range of needs and to provide access to opportunities. Categories of support include food, clothing, emergency travel, emergency health care, and other non-academic expenses. Please email chapel@syr.edu for more information.
Syracuse University Bookstore is offering free delivery to the University area with purchases from the OrangeMart. Deliveries are Tuesdays & Thursdays.
The Food Services team is operating some dining centers for take-out only. On-campus convenience stores are operating on adjusted hours. View current Food Services hours.
Food Pantry at Hendricks Chapel is closed until further notice.
The South Campus food pantry is open Tuesdays 12-4p.m. and Thursday 3-7p.m.

No cost with this service. Please do not bring your own bag. Parking is available outside or you could use Campus Shuttle to get to the Carriage house.

Private Loans
Several private loan lenders are offering borrowers assistance or emergency forbearance. Borrowers must contact their private loan lenders to discuss their situation.
The New York State Department of Financial Services reached an agreement with multiple leading student loan servicers to help borrowers with private student loans who are facing financial hardship due to Coronavirus.
To get financial relief, student loan borrowers in New York should contact their student loan servicer to discuss options and request the following:
At least 90 days of forbearance relief for borrowers;
No late fees during this period;
No negative impact to your credit report;
No student loan debt collection lawsuits for 90 days; and
Helping eligible borrowers to enroll borrower assistance programs
If Card members have been impacted by the current pandemic they should reach out to the customer service numbers on the back of their credit cards and explain how they’ve been affected the coronavirus. Here are some examples of credit card companies offering support:
Apple Card holders can skip their next payment without paying interest.
US Bank is waiving many fees and working on its payment-skipping program.
Discover Card won’t report late payments to credit bureaus.
National Grid and other utility companies such as Con Edison, Central Hudson, Orange and Rockland, New York State Electric and Gas, Rochester Electric and Gas, PSEG Long Island and National Fuel Gas, are suspending shut off during the pandemic.
Check to see if you qualify for HEAP, the government’s Home Energy Assistance Program.
Free internet and Wifi for households that did not previously have internet service (no installation fees) from Spectrum Internet.
LifeLine telephone subsidy provides financial assistance for your telephone or cell phone bill. This program offered by the FCC can also assist with paying for your internet connection.
Mortgage lenders will provide 90 days of relief, a new grace period of loan modification and no late fees during the period and all foreclosures are postponed.
All evictions in New York are on hold indefinitely.
