The Money Awareness Program (M.A.P.) enhances the Syracuse University experience by replacing loan debt with grant funding for eligible students who have borrowed federal and/or alternative student loans. There is no application as eligibility is determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs. There are three components of the program:
- Replaces student loans with grant funding.
- Requires each participating student to complete a financial literacy session every semester.
- Students must submit a M.A.P. certification every semester answering general financial questions and setting goals for the upcoming semester.
The Money Awareness Program will support students until graduation, provided that funding is available, the student continues to fulfill the financial literacy requirements, and the student is registered for 12 credit hours each semester.
