Foundations Series (Attend all six sessions and you could win a $1,000 Foundations Scholarship):

Foundations is a workshop series that introduces Syracuse University students to essential life-skills. Lecture topics include: community involvement, leadership, career development, financial wellness, healthy relationships and self-care, physical health and nutrition, and information literacy. While this series is open to ALL students, undergraduate students who attend all sessions can enter to win a $1,000 Foundations Scholarship each semester.

The Fall 2018 Foundations Workshop Series, 7-8 p.m., 207 Hall of Languages.
Each session will focus on setting healthy boundaries in six different areas:

Monday, September 10, Financial Literacy with Lavet Lorenz-McClurg, Assistant Director of Financial Literacy, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs
“Me and My Money: How do you and money go together?”
Is your money doing what you “tell” it to do, or causing stress? Do you feel obligated to spend more around friends? Could you use some strategies for talking to family about money matters? We’ll cover all this and more in our hour workshop on Money and Boundaries.

Monday, September 17, Leadership with Mark Trumbo, Student-Athlete Engagement Coordinator, Athletics
Good to Great. Making the Jump to Next Level Living:
“Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness, it turns out, is about choices and discipline.” This quote from author, Jim Collins, who wrote the best-selling book, Good to Great, provides simple, but enlightening truth. This session will have participants self-reflecting on their choices and what it takes to live a Next Level life!

Monday, September 24, Physical Health and Nutrition with Veronica (Dyer) Tearney, CSCS RSCC, Strength & Conditioning Coach, Syracuse University Athletics
Navigating Your Resources
With so much exercise and diet information available at your fingertips via the internet and social media, it can be confusing to know what to follow and what to ignore. In this workshop students will learn tips for navigating information on the internet. We will also explore many of the exercise & activity opportunities available right here on campus and figure where on campus to find answers to their dietary questions as well.
